The immune system actively seeks out and intercepts foreign invaders – whether they are inhaled, consumed, or absorbed through the skin. In general, your body does an excellent job mediating he immune response – however there are some scenarios where the immune system may be overwhelmed, or simply go a bit overboard. A healthy immune system
To support your immune system, make sure you are:
- Including a variety of colourful vegetables and fruit everyday – these contain important vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
- Staying well hydrated.
- Getting a good night’s sleep every night.
- Managing times of increased pressure – consider supporting yourself with adaptogens or a functional mushroom during these times.
- Practicing basic hygiene like washing your hands after being out and about.
Taking supplements can also support a healthy immune system.
When should I take immune support supplements?
There are certain times of the year, and scenarios which highlight the need for immune support:
- Before and during winter ills and chills.
- To support your body’s response to pet hair, dust, and pollen.
- If you have a young child starting day-care.
- When you’re going through a time of increased pressure or have a lot on your plate.
