Description
Country Trading Co. Sauerkraut Pounder is an essential part of making brine fermented pickles like sauerkraut and kimchi. Both of these pickles need a good amount of juice, extracted from the leaves of the vegetables, to preserve them and the only way to get that juice is by pounding and squeezing until said juice is flowing.  

  • This wooden pounder is made from untreated, sustainably sourced and hardwood.
  • It is strong and sturdy enough to take the strain, while being light enough to finish the job comfortably
  • The handle is lightly tapered to fit your hand
Ingredients

Beech wood
Directions
  1. Slice cabbage thinly.
  2. Add salt at 1.5% of the weight of the cabbage.
  3. Pound until the juice runs freely.
  4. Pack into jars and weigh down with glass fermentation weights.
  5. Fit airlock lids and ferment in a cool place for 2 weeks.
